Brenda Lee I’m Sorry

Brenda Lee I'm Sorry

Country Pop Music

A very young Brenda Lee, aka Little Miss Dynamite, recorded the song, which was written by Dub Albritton and Ronnie Self, as the B-Side to “That’s All You Gotta Do.” The release of “I’m Sorry” was held back a few months because of concerns that Lee might be too young to sing about unrequited love. However, in 1960, “I’m Sorry” went to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, #4 on the R&B Chart. Later In 1960, “I’m Sorry” was released in the U.K. as the A-Side  and rose to  #12 on the U.K. Chart. The song  became Lee’s signature song. The recording is considered to be a good early example of the “Nashville Sound,” which is a mix of country and pop with stringed instrumentals and background vocals.

Here are the lyrics to “I’m Sorry” by Brenda Lee:

“I’m sorry, so sorry, that I was such a fool
I didn’t know, love could be so cruel
Oh, oh, oh, oh, uh-oh, oh, yes

You tell me mistakes
Are part of being young
But that don’t right
The wrong that’s been done

(I’m sorry)
I’m sorry
(So sorry)
So sorry
Please accept my apology
But love is blind and I was to blind to see
Oh, oh, oh, oh, uh-oh, oh, yes

You tell me mistakes
Are part of being young
But that don’t right
The wrong that’s been done
Oh, oh, oh, oh, uh-oh, oh, yes

I’m sorry, so sorry
Please accept my apology
But love was blind
And I was too blind to see
(Sorry)”

For other songs by Brenda Lee: “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree,” “All Alone Am I,” and “Sweet Nothin’s.”

After a song is featured, it then goes into the juke box. You are welcome to listen to any of the 40+ selections there. Every weekend, there is a Golden Oldies Juke Box Saturday Night, and the juke box is full of song requests from the 1950s and 1960s.
