Danny and The Juniors Rock and Roll Is Here to Stay

Danny and The Juniors Rock and Roll Is Here to Stay

Rock n Roll Music

The song “Rock and Roll Is Here to Stay” was written by group member Dave White and was released in 1957  backed with “School Boy Romance.”  The single went to #19 on the U.S. Billboard Pop chart and #16 on the R&B chart. It came on the heels of their #1 charting success with “At the Hop,” which was also written by White.

Danny and the Juniors were a doo wop and rock and roll vocal group from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. They formed consisted at the time of Danny Rapp (Daniel Joseph Rapp), Dave White (David White Tricker), Frank Maffei, and Joe Terry (Joseph  Terranova). They met at John Bartram High School and started singing with each other in the mid-1950s as the Juvenairs.  Danny Rapp committed suicide in 1983. A version of the group with Joe Terry on lead, along with Frank Maffei and his brother Bobby Maffei , continues to tour and perform.

Here are the lyrics to “Rock and Roll Is Here to Stay” by Danny and The Juniors:

Rock, rock, rock, oh baby,
Rock, rock, rock, oh baby,
Rock, rock, rock, oh baby,
Rock, rock rock, oh baby

Rock ‘n roll is here to stay,
It will never die
It was meant to be that way,
Though I don’t know why
I don’t care what people say,
Rock ‘n roll is here to stay

(We don’t care what people say,
Rock ‘n roll is here to stay)

Rock ‘n roll will always be
Our ticket to the end
It’ll go down in history,
Just you watch, my friend
Rock ‘n roll will always be,
It’ll go down in history

(Rock ‘n roll will always be,
It’ll go down in history)

Everybody rock,
Everybody rock,
Everybody rock,
Everybody rock
Rock, roll, everybody rock

Everybody rock ‘n roll,
Everybody rock ‘n roll,
Everybody rock ‘n roll
Everybody rock ‘n roll,
Rock, roll, everybody rock ‘n roll

Rock ‘n roll is here to stay,
It will never die
It was meant to be that way,
Though I don’t know why
I don’t care what people say,
Rock ‘n roll is here to stay

Rock ‘n roll will always be
Our ticket to the end
It’ll go down in history,
Just you watch, my friend
Rock ‘n roll will always be,
It’ll go down in history

If you don’t like rock ‘n roll,
Think what you’ve been missin’
But if you like to bop and stroll,
Come on down and listen
Let’s all start to have a ball,
Everybody rock ‘n roll

Rock, rock, rock, oh baby,
Rock, rock, rock, oh baby,
Rock, rock, rock, oh baby,
Rock, rock, rock, oh baby
Rock, rock, rock, oh baby
Rock, rock, rock, oh baby…

For another song by Danny and the Juniors: “At the Hop.”
