Roller coasters, Ferris wheels, hot dog stands, and the tunnel of love. Freddy “Boom Boom” Cannon (born Frederick Anthony Picariello, Jr.), from Massachusetts, had a hit with this song in 1962. It went to #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #15 on the R&B Chart. “Palisades Park” was written by Chuck Barris, who also created game shows, including The Gong Show, The Dating Game, and The Newlywed Game.  Chuck Barris just recently passed away on March 21, 2017. “Palisades Park” is a tribute to New Jersey’s Palisades Amusement Park. (The park has now been closed since 1971.) The up-tempo song has a unique organ part and amusement park sound effects.
