Little Peggy March I Will Follow Him

Pop Music

Peggy March was discovered at age thirteen singing at her cousin’s wedding, where she was introduced to the record producers Hugo & Luigi. They gave her the stage name “Little Peggy March” because she was only 4’9,” was only 13, and her birthday was in March. (She was born Margaret Annemarie Battavio on March 8, 1948, and is from Lansdale, PA.) “I Will Follow Him” was recorded and released in early January 1963 when March was only fourteen. By April, the record went to #1 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. It also went to #1 in Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Japan, and the Nordics. The song is featured in the film Sister Act. Over the years, March has maintained a presence in the European and Asian markets. She continues to perform internationally.

Here are the lyrics to “I Will Follow Him” by Little Peggy March:

Love him, I love him, I love him
And where he goes I’ll follow, I’ll follow, I’ll follow

I will follow him, follow him wherever he may go
There isn’t an ocean too deep
A mountain so high it can keep me away

I must follow him, ever since he touched my hand I knew
That near him I always must be
And nothing can keep him from me
He is my destiny

I love him, I love him, I love him
And where he goes I’ll follow, I’ll follow, I’ll follow
He’ll always be my true love, my true love, my true love
From now until forever, forever, forever

I will follow him, follow him wherever he may go
There isn’t an ocean too deep
A mountain so high it can keep, keep me away
Away from my love

I love him, I love him, I love him
And where he goes I’ll follow, I’ll follow, I’ll follow
He’ll always be my true love, my true love, my true love
From now until forever, forever, forever

I will follow him, follow him wherever he may go
There isn’t an ocean too deep
A mountain so high it can keep, keep me away
Away from my love

Do-do do-do-do do-do-do and where he goes
I’ll follow, I’ll follow, I’ll follow
I know I’ll always love him…

The Daily Doo Wop Rec Room has daily featured doo wop, rock and roll, R&B, or rockabilly songs that were hits during the first era of rock and roll (that is, from about 1952 until the British invasion in 1964). After a song is featured, it then goes into the juke box. You are welcome to listen to any of the 40+ selections there. Every weekend, there is a Golden Oldies Juke Box Saturday Night, and the juke box is full of song requests from the 1950s and 1960s.
