Pretty Little Angel Eyes by Curtis Lee

"Pretty Little Angel Eyes" by Curtis Lee

Doo Wop

Who doesn’t love a girl with beautiful eyes? Curtis Lee was from Yuma, Arizona, and began a recording career in 1959. Lee wrote the golden oldie “Pretty Little Angel Eyes” with Tommy Boyce. (Boyce, along with Bobby Hart, went on to write hits for The Monkees.) The record was produced by the famous and infamous Phil Spector and is in the doo wop style.  The Halos, an R&B vocal group, sang the backgrounds. The double t sound in the words pretty and little add a little bit of percussion to the lyrics. The song peaked in 1960 at #7 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and was a minor hit in the U.K. It has been covered by Zombina and the Skeletones and Showaddywaddy. Lee also had charting success with “Under the Moon of Love.” Curtis Lee passed away in 2015 from cancer. He was 75.

Here are the lyrics to “Pretty Little Angel Eyes” by Curtis Lee:

“Pretty little angel eyes
Pretty little angel eyes
Pretty little angel pretty little angel
Pretty little pretty little
Pretty little angel Pretty little little little angel eyes

Angel eyes
I really love you so
Angel eyes
I’ll never let you go
Because I love you
My darling angel eyes
Pretty, pretty, pretty little angel eyes

Angel eyes
You are so good to me
And when I’m in your arms
It feels so heavenly
You know I love you
My darling angel eyes

I know you were sent from heaven above
To fill my life with your wonderful love
I know we’ll be happy for eternity
‘Cause I know that our love is really real

Angel eyes I really love you so
Angel eyes I’ll never let you go
Because I love you
My darling angel eyes

Pretty little angel eyes
Pretty little angel eyes
Pretty little angel pretty little angel
Pretty little pretty little
Pretty little angel

Angel eyes
I really love you so
Angel eyes
I’ll never let you go
Because I love you
My darling angel eyes
Pretty pretty pretty little angel eyes”

After a song is featured, it then goes into the juke box. You are welcome to listen to any of the 40+ selections there. Every weekend, there is a Golden Oldies Juke Box Saturday Night, and the juke box is full of song requests from the 1950s and 1960s.
