The Four Seasons Silence is Golden

The song was written by Bob Gaudio and Bob Crewe and released as the B-Side to “Rag Doll” in 1964 to their #1 hit “Rag Doll. In “Silence is Golden,” the singer is hurting inside to see someone he loves fall for the line of someone who’s no good, but he decides to mind his own business as she wouldn’t believe him anyway. Group members were Frankie Valli, Bob Gaudio, Tommy DeVito, and Nick Massi. Listen for the harp in the mix.

The group The Tremeloes did a cover of “Silence is Golden” and had an international hit with it in 1967, taking it to #1 on the U.K. charts, #11 in the U.S. and #5 in Australia.
