The Teen Queens Eddie My Love

The Teen Queens Eddie My Love

Doo Wop

It’s always so sad when the one you love is far away. “Eddie My Love” was written by Aaron Collins,  Maxwell Davis, and Sam Ling. Collins was the brother of Betty and Rosie Collins, who were The Teen Queens. He was a member of The Cadets (“Stranded in the Jungle”), a doo wop group from Los Angeles.  Davis was a saxophonist, arranger and record producer. Ling was a co-founder of Modern, RPM, and other record labels.

In 1956, “Eddie My Love” went to #14 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #3 on the R&B Best Sellers chart. “Eddie My Love” was covered by The Chordettes and The Fontaine Sisters; they also charted with the song.

Here are the lyrics to “Eddie My Love” by The Teen Queens:

“Eddie, my love, I love you so
How I’ve wanted for you,  you’ll never know
Please Eddie, don’t make me wait too long

Eddie, please write me one line
Tell me your love is still only mine
Please, Eddie, don’t make me wait too long

You left me last September

To return to me before long
But all I do is cry myself to sleep

Eddie, since you’ve been gone

Eddie, my love,  I’m sick in bed
The very next day might be my last
Please, Eddie don’t make me wait too long
You left me last September

To return to me before long
But all I do is cry myself to sleep,

Eddie, since you’ve been gone

Eddie, my love, I’m sinking fast

The very next day might be my last

Please, Eddie, don’t make me wait too long
Please, Eddie, don’t make me wait too long”

For More Golden Oldies Music

The Daily Doo Wop Rec Room has daily featured doo wop, rock and roll, R&B, or rockabilly songs that were hits during the first era of rock and roll (that is, from about 1952 until the British invasion in 1964). After a song is featured, it then goes into the juke box. You are welcome to listen to any of the 40+ selections there. Every weekend, there is a Golden Oldies Juke Box Saturday Night, and the juke box is full of song requests from the 1950s and 1960s.
