The selection for this week’s Flip-Side Monday is “Treat Me Nice” by Elvis Presley. The song, which was written and produced by the famous duo of Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller, was the B-Side to “Jailhouse Rock.” The song “Treat Me Nice” was also featured in the 1957 film Jailhouse Rock. It was also included in Leiber and Stollers musical revue Smokey Joe’s Cafe.
On the track were Elvis Presley (lead vocal), Scotty Moore (electric guitar), Bill Black (double bass), D.J. Fontana (drums), Dudley Brooks (piano), and The Jordanaires (backing vocals). In 1957, “Jailhouse Rock” was a #1 hit for Elvis. “Treat Me Nice” charted well also, going to #27 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 10, #11 on the U.S. Billboard Hot country Singles, and #7 on the U.S. Billboard Most Played R&B chart.
Here are the lyrics to “Treat Me Nice” by Elvis Presley:
When I walk through that door
Baby be polite
You’re gonna make me sore
If you don’t greet me right
Don’t you ever kiss me once, kiss me twice
Treat me nice
I know that you’ve been told
It’s not fair to tease
So if you come on cold
I’m really gonna freeze
If you don’t want me to be cold as ice
Treat me nice
Make me feel at home
If you really care
Scratch my back and run your pretty
Fingers through my hair
You know I’ll be your slave
If you ask me to
But if you don’t behave
I’ll walk right out on you
If you want my love then take my advice
Treat me nice
Make me feel at home
If you really care
Scratch my back and run your pretty
Fingers through my hair
You know I’ll be your slave
If you ask me to
But if you don’t behave
I’ll walk right out on you
If you want my love then take my advice
Treat me nice, treat me nice
If you really want my lovin’ treat me nice

Every weekend, there is a Golden Oldies Juke Box Saturday Night, and the juke box is full of song requests from the 1950s and 1960s.
